As a part of the thirty-hour mandatory training for new family law mediators, Denise Ereka Peterson spoke to the Harris County Dispute Resolution Center’s current class of attorneys regarding LGBT issues in family law post-Obergefell. During the ninety-minute presentation, Denise talked about issues ranging from establishing the date of marriage for purposes of determining community property, issues related to establishing parentage and custody, and the impact of domestic violence in LGBT relationships.
